Ways to work with us

Four ways to join the team

Pick the one that fits your life now. Not sure? Choose “Not sure yet” in the form and we will talk it through with you.

There are no advertised openings right now. We read every open application.

  • Shore-based

    Full-time instructor

A permanent role at one centre, teaching STCW, simulator or specialist courses on a regular timetable.

    A good fit if

    • You are ready to stop sailing long contracts
    • You want a fixed base close to home
  • Flexible

    Teach between contracts

Teach course blocks during your time ashore and go back to sea when your next contract starts. Trainees learn from someone who was on board last month.

    A good fit if

    • You are still sailing
    • You have weeks at home between rotations
  • Freelance

    External assessor

Assess and examine trainees on specific courses, on dates agreed with you in advance.

    A good fit if

    • You assess already, or want to
    • You want occasional work with clear dates
  • Office

    Shore team

Training coordination, course advice, sales, operations and technical support for our simulators and equipment.

    A good fit if

    • You know the industry from the inside
    • You would rather organise training than teach it

What we look for

  • Sea service that matches the courses you would teach
  • Good working English; Croatian helps for courses taught in Croatian
  • Patience, and wanting the next generation to do the job well

Shore team roles have their own requirements, which we explain on the first call.

What you don’t need

  • Teaching experience. You learn how to teach on our Train the Trainer course (IMO model course 6.09) before your first class.
  • To stop sailing. Many courses fit into the weeks between contracts.
  • To move. Teach at the centre closest to you.
  • A perfect CV. A list of your ships, ranks and certificates is enough.
  • Train the Trainer, on us

New instructors complete Train the Trainer at our centre, plus Train the Simulator Trainer and Assessor if they will teach on simulators. We cover the cost.

  • A schedule planned with you

We plan your course blocks around your availability, including your next sign-on date if you are still sailing.

  • Your choice of centre

Teach where you live, or at more than one centre.

    Šibenik Zadar Rijeka Split Zagreb
  • Equipment you know from on board

Transas Wärtsilä NTPRO 5000 and ECDIS 4000 simulators, and in Šibenik an enclosed lifeboat with davit, life rafts and a fire-fighting container on the water.

Frequently asked questions

Before you apply

What seafarers usually ask us before they send a CV. Anything else, ask in the form.

Go to the application

No. Your experience at sea is what we look for. STCW Regulation I/6 requires instructors to be qualified for the training they give, so every new instructor completes our Train the Trainer course (IMO model course 6.09) before teaching. We cover the cost.

Yes. Tell us your usual rotation and when you are next ashore, and we plan course blocks inside those weeks.

It depends on the course. Usually a certificate of competency at the level the course covers, plus relevant sea service. Assessors also need experience of the task they assess. We check the exact requirements with you on the first call.

No. Choose the centres you can reach in the form. Simulator courses are taught where the simulators are, mainly in Šibenik.

Yes, for the shore team: training coordination, sales, operations and technical support. A maritime background helps, but some of these roles don’t require sea service.

We use it only for recruitment and keep it for [12] months, in line with the GDPR. You can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing [careers@adrialibar.com]. Details are in our privacy policy.
