Zagreb may sit 170 kilometres from the nearest coastline, but Croatia’s capital is home to a significant community of seafarers, maritime professionals, and aspiring yacht crew who spend their shore leave or off-contract periods inland. Rather than requiring them to travel to the coast for every certification, Adria Libar brings essential training to the capital.
Our Zagreb classroom is located at Zaharova ulica 7, in a central and well-connected part of the city — easily reachable by tram, bus, or car, with parking nearby. Zagreb Airport offers international connections across Europe, and the city sits at the hub of Croatia’s motorway network, with Rijeka under two hours to the southwest and the Dalmatian coast reachable via the A1 motorway.
Between sessions, Zagreb offers a completely different flavour to our coastal centres — from the Upper Town’s cobbled streets and café culture to the vibrant Dolac market, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and a thriving food and nightlife scene that gives trainees plenty of reasons to enjoy their time in the capital.
Essential Certifications for STCW and Yachting
Zagreb brings key maritime certifications closer to seafarers based in the capital region. Complete a course between contracts without the time or cost of travelling to the coast.
The selection focuses on qualifications most commonly needed: STCW Basic Safety Training, Security Awareness and Security Duties certification, Yacht Master Category A, and Boat Leader Licence courses in Categories B and C. Every course carries the same accreditations as our coastal centres.

Can I take courses at different Adria Libar centres?
Yes. Many trainees combine centres depending on dates and convenience. Your training record stays with Adria Libar wherever you train, and our advisors can plan a schedule across centres.
What are your opening hours?
All five centres are open Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00. Course sessions may start earlier or finish later, depending on the programme; your centre confirms the timetable.
How do I enrol in a course?
Call any of our centres, send an enquiry through our contact page, or email us. A training advisor helps with course choice, dates and certificate requirements. We usually reply within 24 hours on working days.
If I take a course in Zagreb, where are the practical part and the examination?
For Basic Safety Training, Boat Leader Category C and Yacht Master Category A (100 GT) taken in Zagreb, the practical part and the examination are held at one of our coastal centres (Šibenik, Rijeka or Zadar), most often in Šibenik, with the examination at the Šibenik Harbour Master’s Office.
Can I start a yachting career with training in Zagreb?
Yes. Yacht Master Category A (up to 100 GT) and Boat Leader Categories B and C run in Zagreb. You complete the classroom part in the capital, then head to the coast for any practical assessments.
Does Zagreb have simulator or waterfront training facilities?
No. Zagreb is a classroom centre for theory and certification courses. For simulator time or practical waterfront exercises, our advisors book you into Šibenik, Zadar, Rijeka or Split and help with the logistics.
What courses are available in Zagreb?
Zagreb runs STCW Basic Safety Training (A-VI/1), Security Awareness Training (STCW VI/6-1), Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (STCW VI/6-2), Yacht Master Category A (up to 100 GT), and Boat Leader Categories B and C.
Why does Adria Libar have a centre in Zagreb?
Many Croatian seafarers live in or around Zagreb between contracts. The Zagreb centre brings the essential certificates to the capital, so routine training doesn’t mean a trip to the coast.
Where is the Zadar training centre?
Our Zadar centre is at Obala Kneza Trpimira 52, on the waterfront promenade overlooking the Zadar Channel. Zadar Airport has direct flights across Europe, and the city is midway on the coastal motorway between Rijeka (2 hours north) and Split (1.5 hours south).
Do you offer High Voltage training in Rijeka?
Yes. Rijeka runs High Voltage training at operational level (D49A) and management level (D49B) on purpose-built HV equipment. Our Split centre also runs it; few places on the Croatian coast offer this training.
