The Yacht Master Category B (Yacht up to 500 GT) course is a comprehensive training program tailored for experienced yacht captains and maritime professionals seeking to advance their skills and qualifications to operate yachts of up to 500 gross tons. The course curriculum covers a wide range of essential topics to ensure participants are well-prepared to navigate safely and effectively in various maritime environments.

Navigation (sailing) and voyage planning form the core of the course, focusing on advanced navigation techniques, celestial navigation, and electronic chart plotting to plan and execute safe passages. Participants learn to assess and interpret weather forecasts, currents, and navigational hazards to optimize route planning and ensure efficient voyage management.

Understanding ship construction and stability is crucial for safe yacht operation, and participants gain in-depth knowledge of yacht design principles, hull construction, stability calculations, and load management to maintain vessel integrity and stability under various conditions.

Maneuvering and COLREG (Collision Regulations) training equip participants with the skills to navigate yachts safely in crowded waterways and busy harbors while adhering to international maritime rules and regulations.

Course covers essential safety at sea procedures, emergency response protocols, and risk management strategies to mitigate potential hazards and ensure the well-being of passengers and crew.

Meteorology training provides participants with the knowledge and skills to interpret weather patterns, analyze weather forecasts, and make informed decisions regarding voyage planning and navigation to avoid adverse weather conditions and ensure the safety of the vessel and its crew.

Maritime law familiarizes participants with relevant international and local regulations, maritime codes, and legal requirements governing yacht operation.

Maritime English training enhances participants’ communication skills, enabling effective interaction with crew members, passengers, and maritime authorities, facilitating clear and concise communication in various maritime contexts.

Upon completion of the Yacht Master Category B course, participants are equipped with the knowledge, competence, and certification necessary to assume leadership roles as Yacht Masters and confidently navigate yachts of up to 500 gross tons.

Objective:
After successful completion of the course, the trainees will be competent to handle and command a yacht from 100 GT up to 500 GT regardless of purpose and navigation area.

Note to client :
After successful completion of the course and examination at the Harbour Office candidates will receive a Certificate of Competency for Yacht Master Category B (yacht up to 500 GT) issued by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia.

Prerequisite:

  • At least 20 years of age
  • Government issued Id or Passport
  • 2 passport size colored photographs
  • Medical fitness certificate not older than 12 months
