Rijeka, Croatia
Croatia’s principal maritime and industrial port, situated at the head of the Kvarner Gulf where the Adriatic meets Central Europe. With a seafaring tradition stretching back centuries, Rijeka is home to one of the country’s most active shipping communities.
Our centre at Osječka 50 sits close to the port area, well connected by motorway to Zagreb (under 2h) and the Dalmatian coast to the south. Rijeka Airport is 30 minutes away on Krk, and neighbouring Slovenia and Italy are within easy reach — making this our most accessible location for trainees arriving from northern Croatia or wider Europe.
The city was European Capital of Culture in 2020 and offers a vibrant waterfront, Trsat Castle, and the Opatija Riviera just minutes along the coast.
Why Train in Rijeka?
Rijeka is our northern hub with over 46 STCW courses, and its proximity to major shipping operations keeps our training closely aligned with commercial fleet demands.
This location offers specialist programmes not available everywhere — High Voltage Training at operational and management level, Shipboard Energy Conservation, Hazardous Atmosphere, and a full Tanker course range. Rijeka is also home to our Train the Trainer and Simulator Assessor programmes for maritime instructors.
Training Facilities in Rijeka
The Rijeka centre features the Transas Wartsila NTPRO 5000 Full Mission Bridge Simulator and ECDIS 4000 for realistic watchkeeping and navigation exercises.
Purpose-built High Voltage training equipment supports both operational and management level certification — one of the few locations on the Croatian coast with this capability. Dedicated classrooms support courses from single-day refreshers to multi-week programmes.

Question: What documents do I need to bring for my course?
Answer: Requirements vary by course, but generally you should bring a valid passport or national ID, your seafarer’s book (if applicable), any existing certificates relevant to the training, and a medical fitness certificate where required by the course programme. Our training advisors will confirm the exact requirements when you enrol.
Question: How do I enrol in a course?
Answer: You can contact us by phone at any of our centre numbers, submit an enquiry through this page or our contact page, or email us directly. Our training advisors will help with course selection, scheduling, available dates, and certification requirements. We typically respond within 24 hours on working days.
Question: Are your STCW certificates recognised internationally?
Answer: Yes. All Adria Libar courses are approved by the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure and by the Croatian Register of Shipping. Our certificates are also recognised by international flag state administrations including the Marshall Islands, Liberia, and the Belgian Maritime Authority. Training is fully compliant with STCW Convention, IMO model courses, SOLAS, and MARPOL requirements.
