Scope (Target audience):
This course has been developed in accordance with the standards outlined in STCW section A-II/1 of Chapter II and A-III/1 and 6 of Chapter III. It aligns with the guidelines provided in IMO Model Course 1.38 and is closely linked to the ISM Code. The target audience for this course includes officers and individuals responsible for the supervision of a navigational or engineering watch.
Objective:
After the successful completion of the course, the trainees will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the importance of preventing pollution in the marine environment, including the concept of sustainable shipping, the complexity and diversity of the marine environment, the impact of shipping on that environment, the role of regulations, procedures, and technical installations in protecting the environment, environmental awareness and personal responsibility, and the role of the human element in preventing pollution through proactive measures. Trainees will be competent to demonstrate the intention to fully observe procedures for monitoring shipboard operations, ensure compliance with requirements for environmental protection, and act to maintain the positive environmental reputation of shipping.
