Course provides comprehensive training for maritime professionals to assume the responsibility of overseeing navigation while on watch aboard vessels up to 500 gross tons. This program covers essential topics such as navigation techniques, ship handling, safety procedures, collision avoidance, meteorology, maritime regulations, and effective communication. Participants learn to navigate vessels safely, manage watch-keeping duties, respond to emergencies, interpret weather conditions, and comply with international maritime standards.
Scope (Target audience):
This course has been designed to meet the requirements of STCW section II/3 and is based on the guidelines of IMO Model Course 7.03. This course is open to students who wish to enhance their knowledge & those wishing to fulfill prerequisite for attending Master of ship up to 500 GT near coastal voyager competency certificate.
Objective:
This course is based on the minimum knowledge required for certification of officers in charge of a navigational watch on ships of less than 500 GT engaged on near coastal voyages. Upon completion of the course a trainee will be able to perform the relevant duties expected of a mariner.

Course and Sea Service Prerequisite :
- 3 years certified sea service on deck
- Radar observer certificate
- Basic Safety training certificate
- General Radio Operator’s certificate
- Advanced Fire Fighting certificate
- Proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats(other than fast rescue boats) certificate
- Medical First Aid
- Operational Use of Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) certificate
Note to client:
After successful completion of the course, adopted knowledge of terrestrial navigation definition and formulas, safety at sea definitions, navigation officer qualification and examination candidates will receive a Officer in charge of navigational watch on a ship up to 500 GT certificate.
