Scope (Target audience):
This model course aims to provide the STCW 95 Personal survival techniques training for candidates to launch and take charge of a refresher Proficiency in personal survival techniques, in accordance with requirements of Regulation VI/1, Section A-VI/1 paragraph 3 and Table A-VI/1-1 of the STCW Code as amended and IMO Model Course 1.19.
Objective:
After successful completion of the course the trainee will be able to demonstrate competency in surviving at sea in the event of ship abandonment (personal survival techniques swimming, how to put on a life jacket step by step, how to properly fit a life jacket).
- The trainee will be able to do:
- Board a survival craft from ship and water while wearing a lifejacket
- Don a lifejacket
- Safely jump from a height into the water
- Swim while wearing lifejacket
- Keep afloat without a lifejacket

Prerequisite:
Proficiency in personal survival technique certificate

After successful completion of the course and examination candidates will receive a Dangerous, hazardous and harmful cargoes certificate
