Scope (Target audience):
The course is intended for all members of the crew that sails in areas where there is potential risk of pirate attacks.Candidates will learn about the tactic of pirates’ attacks in Somalia and the Gulf of Aden for greater defence with one of the techniques that they will be familiar.
Objective:
After successful completion of the course the candidates will:
- Understand concept of piracy
- Introduce United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea
- Introduce tactics of piracy attacks
- Be able to demonstrate the ways of defence
- Understanding the importance of thorough preparation before sailing in high-risk area
- Learn about the importance of keeping guard while navigating in high-risk area, and learn about ways how to avoid attacks
- Understanding the basics of operations “Atalanta” and learn about the security corridor
