The Human Element, Leadership, and Teamwork (HELM) – Operational Level course is designed to enhance the skills of maritime professionals in managing human factors, leadership, and teamwork on board. Led by experienced maritime instructors, this course combines theoretical knowledge with practical exercises to improve decision-making, communication, and team dynamics in high-pressure situations. Participants will learn to foster a positive safety culture, reduce human error, and lead their crew effectively, meeting the IMO’s STCW standards. Completing this course ensures that officers are equipped to navigate the complexities of shipboard operations with confidence and professionalism.
Scope (Target audience):
STCW course has been designed to meet the requirements of STCW section A-II/2-6 and is based on the guidelines of IMO Model Course 1.39.
Course provides guidance for cadets and officers in charge of a navigational watch on the skills required for effective bridge team and resource management.
Program can be tailored to specific shipping company operations.
Objective:
The trainees who successfully complete this course will gain working knowledge of shipboard personnel management and training and will make a more effective contribution to the bridge team during ship operations.
